Christmas comes early to Kansas City Streetcar

Bucking the norm that Christmas celebrations do not start until after Thanksgiving, Kansas City Streetcar has partnered with Canadian Pacific Kansas City to launch the specially-decorated Holiday Streetcar on 1 November. Designed to embody the warmth, inclusiveness, and spirit of the holiday season, the Holiday KC Streetcar will provide Kansas Citians and visitors alike with a magical transit experience throughout the season.
The design features festive lights, snowy window scenes and a welcoming atmosphere that captures the joy and excitement of the holiday season. The festive streetcar also celebrates the highly anticipated arrival of the official CPKC Holiday Train, which will make its stop at Union Station - Kansas City on November 30. The Holiday Train is a beloved tradition that travels across North America to spread holiday cheer and support local food banks. The Holiday KC Streetcar will also be the place to be to enjoy the annual KC Streetcar Holiday Jam live music performances this season.
KC’s 2.2-mile (3.5km) streetcar service was inaugurated in May 2016 and carries over 5000 passengers/day. CAF supplied 10 Urbos low-floor trams that provide service every 10-15 minutes. A 3.5-mile (5.6km) extension south to University of Missouri-Kansas City is under construction for completion in 2025.
