The 12-year operations and maintenance contract for the four-line 44-station 43.3km automated light metro system in the Danish capital has been awarded to KBH Metro Partner, a joint venture of RATP Dev (France) and SBS Transit (Singapore). The DKK 17bn contract takes effect on 29 September 2027 and the operator will be responsible for safe, stable and secure metro service for 135M passengers/year. It will be responsible for the under-construction branch of line 4 to Outer Nordhavn when that open in 2032.
The existing operation and maintenance is provided by Metro Service of Italy (AnsaldoSTS/ATM Milano) which has been in charge since the metro was inaugurated in 2002 and uses 64 three-car small-profile trans built by Ansaldo-Breda/Hitachi Rail with third rail electrification to provide 2-4 minute headways.
