The ceremonial roll out of the new Alstom people-mover in Singapore.
In 2018 Singapore’s Land Transport Authority awarded Alstom a contract to upgrade the Bukit Panjang people-mover with new signalling and rolling stock. Now the first new Alstom trains have been delivered and put in to revenue service.

They are the first of 19 Innovia APM300R two-car trains that are equipped with the Cityflo 650 communications based train control; The Alstom contract also includes refitting 13 existing cars with this system.

The new stock incorporates smart climate control, regenerative braking, fault monitoring and smart privacy innovations that dim windows when passing close to high rise residential blacks. Work to complete the contract will last until 2025.

Yann Maixandeau, Managing Director, Singapore and Malaysia, Alstom said, 'With over 50 years of expertise in automated people mover systems, Alstom is committed to delivering advanced, eco-friendly, and reliable mobility solutions. The upgraded BPLRT trains will feature state-of-the-art technologies, ensuring a safer, more comfortable, and efficient journey for all passengers. This milestone underscores our commitment to enhancing urban mobility in Singapore, providing residents with a seamless and sustainable travel experience’.

The new cars are the third generation of rolling stock on the 8km (5-mile) automated rubber-tyredpeople-mover that was opened in November 1999 as a feeder to Choa Chu king MRT metro station, originally with single car trains. Two-car trains were introduced in a 2014 upgrade.
