In the Swedish city of Göteborg (Gothenburg) 12 December saw the start of revenue service on the 2.2km tramway branch to Lindholmen on the north bank of the river, Göteborg’s centre for research, innovation and entrepreneurship. The SEK 700M branch is served by the diversion of line 10 from its previous terminus at Biskopsgaarden and the introduction of a new line 12 running to Mölndal. Line 2 is re-routed and operates between Högsbotorp and Biskopsgaarden. This is the largest tramway project in the city for decades and work started in August 2023.

Camilla Holtet, Development Manager at Västtrafik said, ‘Göteborg is developing and needs fast, high-capacity, and most importantly, sustainable traffic solutions. The new tram line on Lindholmen is an important investment that will simplify commuting for many residents’.
