Short-listed bidders POMA and Doppelmayr have been invited to submit tenders to build and operate the 2.2km automated people mover that will link the future High Speed Interchange Station with The National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham International Station and Birmingham Airport. Two contracts are likely to be awarded with a value around £270M, covering design, supply and installation, and 25 years of operations and maintenance. There will be four stations and a depot. The APM is an important part of the HS2 programme, linking Interchange Station with nearby transport hubs and leisure venues.
