A new light rail station opened in the Californian city of Los Angeles on 3 November when Aviation/Century started to serve passengers and became the new terminus for light rail lines C and K (southern segment). As a result the former through service from Norwalk to Redondo Beach (Green Line C) was split with the new line C running from Aviation/Century to Norwalk and the southern segment to Redondo Beach redesignated as line K. Service is provided 04.00-00.30 with a 10/20-minute service. There is cross-platform interchange between lines C and K for through passengers.

Aviation/Century is an elevated station with an island platform, but despite its name serves the airport only by onward shuttle bus. The gap will be filled by rail at the end of 2025 or early 2026 when line K (northern segment from Expo/Crenshaw) is extended to link up with the southern section at Aviation/Century via the important intermediate stop at LAX Metro Transit Center, where a 2.25-mile (3.62km) automated people-mover will give easy access to the airport’s central terminal.

The Green Line, that became Line C in 2020, was opened in August 1995 running 19.3 miles (31.1km) from Norwalk to Redondo Beach and serving a stop called Aviation/LAX for the bus shuttle connection to the airport. It is wholly grade separated in the median of the Century Freeway. and has an interchange with Line A at Willowbrook/Rosa Parks.
