The 9.1-mile (14.5km) extension of the LAMTA light rail Gold Line from Glendora to Pomona has been completed by contractors Kiewit-Parsons on time and to budget on the USD 906.5M design+build contract. The line includes four new stations, 19 bridges, 21 level crossings, 109 miles of decorative sound and retaining walls and nine miles of relocated freight track. In early January the line was turned over to Metro to start the commissioning process, including testing track, power, train control and safety equipment; this will be followed by driver training before passenger service starts in the coming months. The total project cost is estimated at USD 1.5bn, with funding from the LA County Measure M half-cent sales tax and a USD 300M grant from the California State Transportation Authority. This is part of the 23.8-mile (38.3km) Pasadena–Montclair project, which broke ground in July 2020 and is due for completion in 2030. It uses the roadbed of the former bAtchison, Topeka & Santa Fe railway.

Habib F. Balian, CEO of the Foothill Extension Construction Authority, said, ‘The Kiewit-Parsons Joint Venture did an outstanding job on the project. Over the last five years crews put in more than 2.6M work hours and maintained an excellent safety record throughout. I believe that our success was due in large part to the excellent team at the Construction Authority (agency full time staff and consultants provided by our program manager - Hill International), as well as the cooperation and support of our corridor cities. Reaching today took the support, commitment and hard work of many individuals. I want to especially thank the many elected officials representing the corridor's past, present and future for their on-going dedication and support of completing this important regional project’.

The Los Angeles Gold Line at present runs from Pasadena to East Los Angeles via the downtown Regional Connector subway opened in 2020. About 6M passengers/year are carried using KinkiSharyo P3010 LRVs. The original Gold Line opened in July 2003.
