Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has started the process to deliver up to £1.6bn of infrastructure that will help maintain and deliver the English city's Metrolink tramway network, and improve rail accessibility within Greater Manchester. TfGM said, 'This is a significant opportunity for suppliers to help shape how we deliver the next generation of Metrolink and rail accessibility infrastructure across Greater Manchester. We encourage all interested parties to engage with us through this process.TfGM is particularly keen to understand suppliers' views on different delivery models, including delivery partner arrangements and the feasibility of bundling multiple workstreams under a single contract to drive efficiency and reduce disruption – as well as their thoughts on how best to tackle what is likely to be a large amount of activity for Metrolink and potentially other programme'.

The British government has announced a £2.5bn transport investment for Greater Manchester to deliver the UK's first fully-integrated, zero-emission public transport system by 2030.
