Transport for London has announced a new operator for the Elizabeth Line with the award of a seven-year contract to GTS Rail Operations Ltd, a joint venture between the GoAhead Group, Tokyo Metro and Sumitomo Corporation. GTS will take over operations from MTR Corporation (Crossrail) Ltd in May 2025.  
 
The Elizabeth Line has had a transformational impact since opening in 2022 and has become one of the most popular and reliable railways in Great Britain, providing new and more direct journey options that has led to over 700 000 passengers/day being recorded. Claire Mann, TfL’s Chief Operating Officer, said ‘I am delighted that we have appointed GTS Rail Operations Ltd to build on the success of the Elizabeth Line and I look forward to working with them’. 
 
Elizabeth Line service started on 24 May 2022 and today operates over 117km from Reading/Heathrow Airport to Sheffield/Abbey Wood operating through the city underground from Paddington to Pudding Mill Lane/Victoria Dock using 70 Bombardier Aventura trains.
