No trams to Eccles for most of February

Transport for Greater Manchester has announced that track replacement work around West will mean that no trams will run to Eccles from 1-25 February; services from the city centre will terminate at Media City during this time, with a replacement bus service to Eccles. The work is part of a £147M package to upgrade Metrolink in 2025-2027, with track work planned for various city centre locations later this year.
Ian Davies, TfGM’s interim Network Manager for Metrolink said 'The works at Weaste tram stop are essential to ensure that services on the Eccles line remain safe and reliable for the thousands of journeys people make on it every day. As always, we are working hard to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum, including the provision of replacement buses for our passengers.
Metrolink is the biggest light rail system in the country, so it’s critically important we keep investing in the network and making sure it remains a safe, reliable and accessible way to get around Greater Manchester well into the future. While this essential work at Weaste is ongoing, I would encourage people to plan ahead and check our website or the Bee Network app for the latest travel information before setting off’.
Manchester Metrolink is the UK’s largest light rail network, covering 64 miles (102km) and serving 99 stops. When the first part opened in 1992 it represented the first new street tramway of the modern era.
