The Polish city of Poznan (population 540 000) has one of Poland's largest and most modern tramway systems (87km served by 18 lines using over 400 trams). 30 Modertrans Moderus Beta low-floor trams are currently being delivered to replace the last high-floor trams (Konstal 105Na, Moderus Alfa and ex-Frankfurt/Main Duewags). Not content with this, operator MPK has issued a tender for up to 30 more low-floor trams for delivery in 2027-2028. The new trams must be 30.5-32.5m long, single-ended, carry 225 passengers and be 100% low-floor with transverse seats and fitted with air conditioning. A firm order for 10 trams is expected with 20 more as options.

The trams these will replace are the 16 Tatra RT6N partly low-floor trams, the last model built by CKD Tatra of Praha (Prague) in 1993-98 before the company's demise. Just 19 were produced with deliveries to Praha, Brno and Poznan, but most of these have found their way to Poznan, which is now the only place where they can be seen in passenger service. They are 63% low-floor and due to their width of 2.44m can operate only on certain routes.
