Skoda Group has acquired 100% of the shares in the French company Cegelec a.s. from Vinci Energies; Cegelec has been renamed Electric Components a.s. Cegelec was formerly part of GEC-Alstom and was purchased by Vinci in 2009. It supplies traction equipment for transit vehicles. Skoda Group is expanding its portfolio and gaining an experienced workforce.
Cegelec is a company founded in Czechoslovakia in 1956 and engaged in the development and manufacture of electrical equipment for the transit industry, including trams, trolleybuses and metro trains, and was sold to the French company in 1992. It is involved in the modernisation of trams, particularly those that were produced by CKD Praha (Tatra).
Miroslav Opa, now Chairman of the Board of Electric Components a.s. said, ‘I believe the combination of our know-how will contribute to the expansion of our joint activities in projects around the world’.
Cegelec provided electrical equipment for the modernisation of 80 Göteborg (Gothenburg) trams. (Cegelec)
