Music industry legend and rail enthusiast Pete Waterman OBE has had a locomotive named in his honour.

The ceremony took place at Crewe railway station in Cheshire as freight train operator, Freightliner, sought to mark his contribution to the industry.

Pete, was completely taken by surprise when he was invited to Crewe station on September 11 to pull the curtain on the side of the Freightliner engine. He did not expect to see his own name on the nameplates of Class 90 No. 90041.

Tributes were paid to Pete’s untiring support for railway charities, including the Railway Benefit Fund of which he has been the president for the last five years.

Want to meet the legend for yourself? He will be hosting the 'Dinner at the Roundhouse' event this October in which the cream of the UK rail industry gather to celebrate the past year and look forward to the year ahead.
