Tarragona tramway contract awarded

A consortium of Systra Ardanuy and Typsa has been given the construction management contract for the Camp de Tarragona tramway project in Catalunya, Spain. This includes supervising the works, co-ordinating with main line infrastructure manager ADIF, municipalities and utility companies and overseeing testing and final validation. Systra will provide Systems Integration Technical Assistance to ensure all tramway subsystems work together to permit the inauguration of commercial service. The contracts will play a central role in delivering the first phase of the network, to be operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, a significant step forward in sustainable transport for the area. The first phase will be a 14km line linking Cambrils Centre to Vila-seca Estació via Salou, re-using the former coastal railway corridor.
