Canberra Metro Operations (CMET) operates and maintains the light rail network in Australia’s capital city, delivering safe, reliable and efficient transport services for the local community. The organisation plays a critical role in supporting the city’s public transport infrastructure and ongoing growth. CMET is now using the Transit9 platform to support permits and contract management, with safety management forming part of a broader staged roll-out. Through the platform operational events, safety records and workforce data are linked in real time to support co-ordinated decision making, improving reliability and targeted actions, including additional training where required. This creates a clear and auditable pathway from issue identification through to resolution, strengthening consistency and collaboration across teams. The platform integrates with existing systems to provide a single consistent operational view, reducing manual effort and improving data accuracy across the network.

The new partnership was recognised during a recent visit by Irish Transport Minister Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, TD, together with her Excellency Ms Fiona Flood, Ambassador of Ireland to Australia.

Keith MacHale, CEO of Transit9, said: "It was a real privilege to have the Ambassador and the Minister visit and recognise the work being delivered here with CMET. Enterprise Ireland has played a key role in supporting Transit9 as we expand internationally. That backing, along with the time given by the Ambassador and the Minister, means a great deal to the team. What CMET is building here is exactly what the industry needs. A connected operational environment where information flows properly between teams, reducing duplication, improving visibility and supporting safer, more efficient operations.”
