TTC tram on Toronto streets
Modernisation works on the streetcar power network on Queens Quay and Fleet Street are due to start soon. Both overhead and underground power systems will be upgraded.

This four-month project will completed in stages and will have effects on the timetable and also mean that bus replacements wil be run in some cases.

When complete, the vehicles will use an optimimised and improved pantograph overhead contact system that will be fully compatible with the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) 's fleet and boost the reliability of the waterfront service.

'As a city, we are investing over C$200 million (EUR 132.8m) to expand the TTC's fleet of fully accessible low-floor streetcars. The work being done along Queens Quay and Fleet Street is integral to ensuring that the right infrastructure is in place to run these streetcars and to deliver a safe and reliable TTC service for many years to come.' said Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow.

The four-month project will span 3 km and involve upgrades to both overhead and underground wiring (TTC)
