The work of 90 people over six months has created a full-scale 6t 11.5m LEGO tram that was put on display at Deák Ferenc Sq until 20 December. It was built on a works tram underframe and bogies using 1.8M pieces.

The designer was Balázs Dóczi. Budapest mayor Gergely Karácsony highlighted the importance of yellow trams to ‘Budapest-ness’ and noted that the LEGO tram also draws attention to the role of public and sustainable transport. The tram symbolised 137 years of tramway transport in Budapest, that began in November 1887.
