Two new lines and 8.4km of new tramway were opened on 8 July with extensions from Belle-Beille Campus to Molière (4.8km) and from Centre de Congrès to Monplaisir (3.6km). 
 
The route network is now: A Roseraie–Centre de Congrès–Avrillé-Ardenne, B Belle-Beille Campus–Centre de Congrès–Monplaisir and C Belle-Beille Campus–Railliement–Roseraie. There were free rides on the network on 7/8 July. 20 more 33m Alstom Citadis trams (2001-2020) were delivered to expand the fleet to 37 ready for the new network. They are fitted with Alstom APS surface contact current collection for operation over 1.5km in the city centre that is equipped with this system. The budget for the project was EUR 245M. 
 
Angers in western France (population 155 900) opened its first 12.3km north–south tram line on 25 June 2011 at a cost of EUR 350M. The tramway operator, Irigo, is part of the Keolis group.
