The city council has approved the transport operator in the Romanian capital, RATB, inviting tenders for up to 250 new trams. This tender would include: 
 
90 single-ended 27m; 
10 double-ended 27m; 
100 single-ended 36m 
50 single-ended 45m 
 
Delivery should be completed in 2027 and the estimated contract value is EUR 800M. RATB is at the moment taking delivery of 100 27m Astra Imperio Metropolitan 100% low-floor cars, that are used on lines 25 and 41.  
 
These lines will receive the 45m trams to cater for increasing demand. Astra’s Imperio design is based on the Avenio platform through co-operation with Siemens.
