George Lowder MBE has been selected as LRSSB chair
A leading figure in the transport industry has been appointed chair of the organisation responsible for driving tramway safety standards.  
 
George Lowder MBE, Chief Executive of Transport for Edinburgh (TfE) has been selected for the role at the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board as it continues to deliver a series of ambitious projects aimed at further reducing the risk of harm on UK networks.  
 
As Chief Executive of TfE, George helped deliver Edinburgh's successful integrated transport network - including its acclaimed tramway network. 
 
His appointment has been welcomed by the organisation's Chief Executive, Carl Williams, who said, 'We're delighted to have George on board as we prepare to build on the organisation's many successes to date and embark on a new era of even closer collaboration with the regulator and other key stakeholders.  
 
His guidance and support for the board will prove invaluable as the LRSSB continues to grow and evolve, leading in all areas of light rail safety.' 
 
'Within a few short years, the LRSSB has made impressive progress in its mission to reduce risks to as low as practicably possible,' said George on his latest appointment, 'I am looking forward to working with Carl and the board to ensure that we remain on track to deliver even more support for the sector as it strives to deliver even safer networks for employees and the travelling public.'
