Lagos metro finally carrying passengers

The elevated Blue Line metro started passenger service on 4 September despite being officially inaugurated as long ago as 24 January 2023. 

 

At that time some trial journeys were carried out using a diesel locomotive to push-pull a metro set. The line links Marina and Mile 2 (13km with five stations) and is standard gauge with 15 Chinese-built four-car trains from CNR Dalian ordered as long ago as 2015. 

 

They operate at 750V dc from a third rail.
