A EUR200M contract between Hitachi Rail and the Municipality of Naples has been signed which will see Naples' Metro Line 6 receive new generation trains. 
 
With a capacity of 290 passengers and a total length of 39 metres, the trains will be equipped with Automatic Train Protection (ATP) as well as an innovative air conditioning system. 
 
Hitachi Rail will manufacture the new trains at its factories in Pistoia and Naples. The first of the six trains will enter service from 2026.
