DPMO, the tramway operator in the Czech city of Olomouc, has issued a tender for the supply of nine 16m air-conditioned 100% low-floor trams with rotating bogies, single-ended but with doors on both sides, so they can run in back-to-back formation to serve termini with stub tracks.

Price will count for 60% in the tender evaluation, with 30% for life cycle costs and 10% for delivery time (a maximum of 24 months). Manufacturers will be expected to have type approval for operation in the Czech Republic.

At present only TW Alliance (Pragoimex) only has this, for their EVO-1 tram that has been delivered to the city since 2018, and the later Vario-LF+, with 14 delivered in 2023. Tenders are due back by 13 September.

Olomouc (population 100 400) has operated standard-gauge trams since 1899 and has seven services operating on the 15.7km network. A 2.6km new line with stub terminus was built in 2013-2022. Currently, there are 69 trams in the fleet that carry about 25M passengers annually.
