Stockholms Spårvägar (SS), the commercial company set up by the museum organisation Svenska Spårvägssällskapet in 1987, but now owned by Bergkvarbuss, has been successful in winning the 10-year SEK 6M contract to operate all the city’s light rail lines and the Saltsjöbanan, taking over from the Finnish VR Group in August 2024 (SS already operates the Spårväg City and Lidingöbanan lines).

The new operation covers the Tvärbanan, Nockebybanan, Saltsjöbanan, Spårväg City and Lidingöbanan and will involve traffic operation, property management, vehicle and track maintenance with 100 trams carrying 150 000 passengers/day from 78 stations.

Göran Bergström, CEO of AB Stockholms Spårvägar said, ‘It is with joy and pride that we received this announcement and we thank Stockholm Region for their trust. The company has the capacity required to grow and we look forward to delivering stable public transport to all our old and new travellers’
