Trams turn from Blackpool Promenade on to the new tramline. (Blackpool Council)
The final testing on the new Blackpool tramline along Talbot Road to Blackpool North Station has begun.

Although the first trams ran along the new line in March 2022, there have been no runs since July 2022 as the much delayed work to build the new terminus took place (caused by the construction of the £34M Holiday Inn hotel - not completed until recently with opening programmed for 1 May).

It is hoped that trams can start carrying passengers before the end of May, though the service pattern planned has still to be announced; it is expected that s 10-minute service will be provided.

Work on the line started in November 2017 and the cost of the 0.6-mile ( 1km) is expected to total £18.2M, with £16.4M coming from Transport for Lancashire (Lancashire Enterprise Partnership).

It has now been confirmed that passenger service on the North Station line will start on 16 June.
