TfL is seeking views on the possible extension of the Docklands Light Railway from Beckton with a tunnel under the River Thames to Thamesmead, and an intermediate station at Beckton Riverside.

This is the preferred option from a range of proposals that were evaluated. The project would include bus rapid transit from Woolwich to Thamesmead.

TfL has worked with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Newham Council as well as major landowners with the aim of providing for new homes, improved town centres and better access to jobs.

Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead Waterfront have the potential for 25-30 000 new homes, depending on better public transport.

The six-week public consultation period will end on 18 March.
