London’s Docklands Light Railway, a 38km (24-mile) automated light metro system with 45 stations and about 117M passengers/year, is at present operated by the KeolisAmey Docklands joint venture under a contract that is due to finish at midnight on 31 March 2025.
Owner TfL has invited expressions of interest for the next franchise to operate and maintain the system for eight years from April 2025 (with an option to extend by two years and a separate option to extend by a further seven months).
Those interested in participating in the contest for the contract should submit their expressions of interest by 2 October, after which up to five prequalified companies will be invited to submit formal tenders in 2024.
The DLR was opened in 1987 to serve the London Docklands redevelopment area. (DLR)
